The work of press photographers, however remarkable, counts for little without publications that are prepared to use them well. This is recognised by the Getty Images Newspaper of the Year awards.

The judges were looking for titles which demonstrated an enthusiasm for good photography both in how it is taken and how it is displayed to the reader.
