The picture was taken at a fairly 'routine' royal rota assignment near Swansea. The Queen and the Duke were opening a new power station and were themselves struggling to muster any enthusiasm for the job in hand. After the ceremony the Duke was introduced to a group of school kids in a band who cheered him up and got probably the only smile of the day out of him which resulted in the picture. I like it because he looks like he's wearing the bruise on his eye with a raffish pride and revelling in it.
